A moving 25^th anniversary remembrance ceremony was held at the 9/11 EMS Memorial in Keansburg, New Jersey on September 11, 2026.  Approximately 175 family, friends, Police, Firemen, and fellow EMTs’ came together to honor the memories of the 54 EMT’s and Paramedics who perished that day.

The EMS Council of New Jerey along with Keansburg Borough Officials created this space near the beach way lot that overlooks New York City.   A beautiful two tower granite stone memorial was created from donations and sits alongside a piece of steel from the World Trade Center.  The two towers list the 54 names of the EMT’s and Paramedics that gave their lives to save others.

The 2026 event was several months in the planning by a committee of EMS Council members and Borough Officials.  It include a Bag Piper who played “Going Home”  and “Amazing Grace”, Speakers from the Assembly 13^th District, the Mayor and the EMS Council President. Three wreaths were laid upon the monument, one for each branch that served, Police, Fire, and EMS.  A student from the High School played taps and a young lady sung the national anthem.

All 54 names were read aloud, and the bell sounded 6 times, indicating the times that each tower was hit and fell, Shanksville crash, and the Pentagon crash.

It was a beautiful tribute to those who chose to serve a purpose greater than themselves. We are forever grateful.
